In verses 22-2:3 Peter gives us the second way we are to respond to this salvation God has provided for us. It is a love toward others. All the way through scripture the response to God’s goodness, the hope and salvation he provides is to love him and love people. If you look at the ten commandments, the first four are about our love for God, the last six are about our love for people. Jesus made it clear the greatest command was to love God and the second was like it to love people and went on to say that all the law is fulfilled when we love God and love people. Thus, our mission is to do just that as a body of believers to love God the most and love others as Jesus loves them.

We know to love God; Peter has said set our hope fully on him.
