Peter has been writing this letter to encourage his readers to suffer well, to endure well. In suffering well, in enduring well we honor Christ in our hearts. We worship him with our suffering. Peter tells us in V17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if this is God’s will, than for doing evil. The question we want to try to answer this morning is why is it better to suffer for good. We have already seen when we suffer well, we honor Christ in our hearts. In the verses today we are going to see more reasons for suffering for good, in these verses there are two difficult passages to understand. As we work through these, I want us to keep our focus on why it is better to suffer for good.
