In Peters final words he is reminding us of the faith that we have, that Grace and peace is multiplied to us in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, We have divine power, precious and great promises, and we have been made to be partakers of a divine nature. He reminds us of the unlimited resources we have for life and godliness. Then he reminds us of the fundamentals that should be ours and increasing in our life. Faith is a gift from God, we add goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection, love. In today’s passage he gives us two reasons why we should pay attention to his reminders. These two reasons not only give Peter’s reminders credibility and authority, but they also combat the false teachers that are in the church.
