Peter continues teaching us about submitting. He started this by telling us our response to the gospel is for us to proclaim the excellence of God and for us to abstain from fleshly desires. He then took us to submitting. What is the opposite of submitting?  To Rebel, wouldn’t rebellion be a fleshly desire Peter is asking us to abstain from? He starts with submitting to the highest position of authority the emperor, then moves to those the emperor sends. Today he moves to those we should submit to on a daily basis, those we work for, those we are employed by.
