Last week James gave us clear, easily understood instructions on how to respond in a time of suffering. Just because it is clear and easy to understand does not make it easy to do. To be patient when your world is turned upside down, to be willing to wait when you are hurting, but not be passive but continue to serve and minister, to grow your faith in this time, and last do not grumble. That is not easy, nor is it novel when we do it, nor is it impossible, it is what followers of Christ do. If not for the next two verses, we could argue with James, but he gives us the examples of the prophets and Job. So, we cannot argue.
