In verses 7-12 We saw the word patience used multiple times. In the remaining verses of this chapter, (which we will not finish) James uses the word Prayer 7 times. As we think about submitting to God in suffering and responding to suffering well, James knows we cannot do this without prayer.

Let me say on the front in that some scholars believe this passage is one of the most difficult passages in the New Testament to translate. The reason for the difficulty is he uses Greek language that could mean multiple things. With that being said, I believe it is very possible that James wrote it this way because he wants there to multiple applications. We will look at this as we look at these verses.
