Sticks and Stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. This is not a true statement. James takes chapter 3 to teach us the power of words. For good and for destruction. Remember in chapter 1:26, James said a man who does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Remember when James said in chapter 2:14 if someone SAYS he has faith but does not have works, can that faith save him. James continues this thought of what we say, the words we speak in chapter 3.
